State of Our States
2005 States Outlook

The state legislature in California and Oregon will meet for 2005 sessions.  In addition to tackling budget concerns, most states accross the nation will be struggling with similiar issues, including:

• meeting fiscal challenges,
• reducing health care costs,
• paying for No Child Left Behind,
• providing better veteran’s benefits,
• incresing safety,
• strengthening criminal laws,
• protecting privacy,
• clearing the air and
• making their governments more efficient.
